The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Orchestra 

Formed under the auspices of the University’s Culture Promotion Committee since 2013, it aims to assemble students, staff and alumni across generations to ignite their passion for music. Our debut performance was at the Emmanuel United Reformed Church, University of Cambridge, UK in the Cambridge Exchange Concert in 2013. 

The Orchestra unites members of the PolyU family and enriches the cultural ambience of campus through musical training and orchestral performances. 

We cultivate your musicianship and broaden your musical horizons through diversified music programmes, collaborating with renowned artists and overseas exchange programmes.

Upcoming Programmes in 2019/20

We provide musical trainings and performance opportunities to our members. This year, we have planned various concerts and exchange programme, such as Annual Concert in Nov 2019, Asia Exchange Programme in Feb 2020 and Chamber Music Concert in Apr 2020. You could join to broaden your musical horizons. 

About the Auditions

Date: 25 September 2019 (Wed)
Time: 4:30 pm onwards (a time slot will be assigned to you later)
Venue: Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU

Audition requirements:
- A solo composition of your own choice to showcase your musicianship (piano accompaniment and memorizing are not required)
- Each audition lasts for around 5 minutes

Members are required to attend the weekly rehearsals on Wednesday nights and dress rehearsals to be eligible for any public performances.

Free membership is open to all PolyU students, staff and alumni. All musicians, particularly brass players, are welcome! Apply now!
